Unfortunately we can confirm a small fire in Bilya 2 started last night and was quickly responded to and put out by authorities. The cause of the fire is not yet known, any speculation about the value of the damage is simply unfounded. Whilst the damage could have been worse it is enough to relocate students from Bilya 2 to the music room for the last week of school and students from Bilya 3 to the staffroom for tomorrow only. Students in the Bilya block of rooms will not be able to use the collaborative learning space or office tomorrow whilst the clean up concludes in those areas. There is no need for students to not attend school. All staff will be available from the start of the day to support students and their parents and as a result any meetings with members of the admin scheduled for tomorrow will be postponed.

3Way conferences for this week will not be affected, nor are any end of term activities such as NAIDOC week.

Whilst what has occurrred is disappointing the impact to our students and school could have been more severe. I know we will work together as a staff and as a school community to overcome what has happened through our normal collaborative and caring approach that characterizes our school.
